A lot is generally heard about Islam with reference to violence against people of other communities, suppression of women and opposition to modernity. There are few conversations around the teachings of peace and compassion in the Quran, the encouragement in Islam to learn from others and most importantly the higher role that this religion envisions for women. Being a Muslim woman and student of Islam, I have decided to devote myself to uncovering these aspects from Islamic scriptures and sharing with people who seek to know how Islam can be a means for positive transformation.
